One of the pharmaceutical preparations that can be used as an analgesic and aromatherapy is a balm preparation because the balm preparation can overcome mild pain and stress. This study aims to determine the effect of cera alba and menthol concentrations on the physical properties of the balm, and to determine the most optimum concentration of cera alba and menthol. The sample used was ylang-ylang essential oil. Rosemary essential oil was made into a balm preparation in 5 formulations with variations of cera alba 5% -11% and menthol 1% -7%. The five formulations were tested for their physical properties including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, adhesion and spreadability. The test results were used to find the optimum formula using the simplex lattice design (SLD) method and the five formulations obtained </em><em>one best formula, namely formulation 5 with a concentration of cera alba 5% and Menthol 6%.</em></p>2025-07-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 SAINS INDONESIANAhttps://sainsindonesiana.id/index.php/sainsindonesiana/article/view/121RATIONAL USE OF MEDICINES BASED ON SHARIA PRINCIPLES IN SELF-MEDICATION AT SIROTO PHARMACY BANYUMANIK SEMARANG2025-07-08T08:17:31+00:00Dinda Rahmadindarahma367@gmail.comAbdur Rosyiddindarahma367@gmail.comNaniek Widyaningrumdindarahma367@gmail.com<article class="text-token-text-primary w-full" dir="auto" data-testid="conversation-turn-10" data-scroll-anchor="true"> <div class="text-base my-auto mx-auto pb-10 [--thread-content-margin:--spacing(4)] @[37rem]:[--thread-content-margin:--spacing(6)] @[72rem]:[--thread-content-margin:--spacing(16)] px-(--thread-content-margin)"> <div class="[--thread-content-max-width:32rem] @[34rem]:[--thread-content-max-width:40rem] @[64rem]:[--thread-content-max-width:48rem] mx-auto max-w-(--thread-content-max-width) flex-1 group/turn-messages focus-visible:outline-hidden relative flex w-full min-w-0 flex-col agent-turn" tabindex="-1"> <div class="flex max-w-full flex-col grow"> <div class="min-h-8 text-message relative flex w-full flex-col items-end gap-2 text-start break-words whitespace-normal [.text-message+&]:mt-5" dir="auto" data-message-author-role="assistant" data-message-id="f56584bd-8f3f-4922-b3b3-e5ad373e87ac" data-message-model-slug="gpt-4o"> <div class="flex w-full flex-col gap-1 empty:hidden first:pt-[3px]"> <div class="markdown prose dark:prose-invert w-full break-words light"> <p data-start="0" data-end="571">In Islamic teachings, Muslims are encouraged to make efforts (ikhtiar) in facing various challenges, including when experiencing illness. Self-medication is one form of ikhtiar that is carried out independently to treat mild symptoms using over-the-counter or limited over-the-counter medicines. Rational drug use is key to ensuring the safety and effectiveness of treatment. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines rational drug use as the provision of medicines according to the patient's clinical needs, in the right dose and duration, and at an affordable cost. for Muslims, in addition to rationality, the halal aspect is also an important consideration in the use of medicines. The halal-thayyib principle, as explained in the Qur'an Surah Al-Baqarah verse 168, emphasizes the importance of choosing medicines that are not only safe and effective but also halal. however, the public's level of knowledge about the halal status of medicines is still relatively low. education about halal medicines is highly necessary, especially among Muslims, to increase awareness and understanding. this study aims to determine the level of public knowledge regarding the rational use of medicines based on sharia principles in self-medication practices. the method used is descriptive with a questionnaire instrument distributed directly to respondents. the results show that the majority of respondents understand the concept of rational drug use and prefer to obtain medicines from pharmacies and doctors. in terms of sharia, the understanding of the halal and haram concept in medicines is relatively high, but awareness of ingredients such as gelatin and alcohol remains low. therefore, more intensive education on the halal aspects of medicine use is needed so that Muslims can be more selective in accordance with Islamic law.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="mx-[var(--mini-thread-content-inset)]"> <div class="flex min-h-[46px] justify-start"> <div class="touch:-me-2 touch:-ms-3.5 -ms-2.5 -me-1 flex flex-wrap items-center gap-y-4 p-1 select-none touch:w-[calc(100%+--spacing(3.5))] -mt-1 w-[calc(100%+--spacing(2.5))] duration-[1.5s] focus-within:transition-none hover:transition-none pointer-events-none [mask-image:linear-gradient(to_right,black_33%,transparent_66%)] [mask-size:300%_100%] [mask-position:100%_0%] motion-safe:transition-[mask-position] group-hover/turn-messages:pointer-events-auto group-hover/turn-messages:[mask-position:0_0] group-focus-within/turn-messages:pointer-events-auto group-focus-within/turn-messages:[mask-position:0_0] has-data-[state=open]:pointer-events-auto has-data-[state=open]:[mask-position:0_0]"><button class="text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-bg-secondary rounded-lg" aria-label="Copy" aria-selected="false" data-testid="copy-turn-action-button" data-state="closed"></button><button class="text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-bg-secondary rounded-lg" aria-label="Good response" aria-selected="false" data-testid="good-response-turn-action-button" data-state="closed"></button><button class="text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-bg-secondary rounded-lg" aria-label="Bad response" aria-selected="false" data-testid="bad-response-turn-action-button" data-state="closed"></button><button class="text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-bg-secondary rounded-lg" aria-label="Read aloud" aria-selected="false" data-testid="voice-play-turn-action-button" data-state="closed"></button><button class="text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-bg-secondary rounded-lg" aria-label="Edit in canvas" aria-selected="false" data-state="closed"></button><button class="text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-bg-secondary rounded-lg" aria-label="Share" aria-selected="false" data-state="closed"></button> <div class="flex items-center"> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="mt-3 w-full empty:hidden"> <div class="text-center"> </div> </div> <div class="aria-live=polite absolute"> <div class="flex items-center justify-center"><span class="flex items-center gap-1.5 select-none"><span class="sr-only whitespace-nowrap! md:not-sr-only">Ask ChatGPT</span></span></div> </div> </div> </div> </article> <div class="pointer-events-none h-px w-px" aria-hidden="true" data-edge="true"> </div>2025-07-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 SAINS INDONESIANAhttps://sainsindonesiana.id/index.php/sainsindonesiana/article/view/123EVALUATION OF PATIENT SATISFACTION LEVEL TOWARDS SHARIA-BASED PHARMACY SERVICES AT SUNAN KALIJAGA HOSPITAL, DEMAK REGENCY2025-07-08T08:16:29+00:00Lioni Regina Pradipta Faralioniregina2309@gmail.com Nisa Febrinasarinisafebrie@unissula.ac.idMustika Baitinisafebrie@unissula.ac.id<p>Pharmaceutical services can be interpreted as a service related to pharmaceutical preparations and directly provided by pharmacists or pharmaceutical personnel to patients with the aim of obtaining effective, safe therapy results so that they can improve patient health. From an Islamic perspective, medicine storage should not be conducted carelessly, considering that some pharmaceutical ingredients may not be halal and lack halal certification. To minimize the risk of contamination or mixing during storage, proper categorization and labeling based on halal status are essential. This research employed a descriptive method<br />with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Primary data were collected through checklists administered to pharmacy staff and direct observation of the drug storage area. The compliance level of the pharmaceutical logistics storage room at RSJ Soerojo Magelang with the Technical Guidelines for Hospital Pharmaceutical Services (2019)<br />was found to be 80.70% for spatial layout and 81.82% for storage system aspects. However, from the Islamic sharia perspective, the storage system does not meet the requirements, as indicated by a 0% score for halal-based drug classification and labeling. SWOT analysis places RSJ Soerojo in Quadrant I (aggressive strategy), with an IFAS score of 1.26 and an EFAS score of 0.29, indicating strong internal strengths and external opportunities, allowing the hospital to actively pursue strategic development.</p>2025-07-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 SAINS INDONESIANAhttps://sainsindonesiana.id/index.php/sainsindonesiana/article/view/122EVALUATION OF OUTPATIENT KNOWLEDGE LEVEL ON BEYOND USE DATE IN THE USE OF THAYYIB PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATIONS AT SUNAN KALIJAGA REGIONAL HOSPITAL DEMAK2025-07-08T08:17:02+00:00Lestari Nurmayantitarinurma16@gmail.comNisa Febrinasaritarinurma16@gmail.comMustika Baiti nisafebrie@unissula.ac.id<p>One of the key indicators for determining whether a medication is still suitable for use is the Beyond Use Date (BUD). The use of medications beyond their BUD equates to administering drugs whose stability and effectiveness are no longer guaranteed, potentially resulting in therapeutic failure and endangering patient health. In Islam, maintaining health and the environment is considered a form of spiritual responsibility, which should be implemented in everyday life. Using edications with assured stability and effectiveness reflects an individual's accountability towards their own well-being.<br />This study employed a descriptive observational method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 8 items, using purposive sampling on 99 outpatients at Sunan Kalijaga Regional General Hospital, Demak, who met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the majority of respondents (80 individuals or 81%) had good knowledge regarding the Beyond Use Date. These findings can serve as input for the hospital, particularly pharmaceutical personnel, to maintain and improve the delivery of information and counseling about BUD to patients.</p> <p> </p>2025-07-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 SAINS INDONESIANA
